Controlling Wild Hog Populations
The importance of wildlife to the ecosystem cannot be overemphasized. There can be no balance of the ecosystem without wildlife in the planet. Wildlife are good tourist attractions among other benefits to humans. Case in point is game meat which is consumed by people. Wildlife also have their destructive part even though they are of benefit to us.
Without control, it is possible that some species of wildlife can be come excessively many on the planet. This is not good for the ecosystem since the specific species will cause an overburden of a particular part of the environment. Case in point are the wild hogs of Texas, United States. These species of pigs have become so many that their destruction of the environment is affecting people in Texas. The Texas wild hog control movement was therefore initiated to control these invasive species.
Feral hog removal has been ongoing in Texas for some time. This can be achieved within a short period of time if the right measures are employed. Of note is that the animals can be dangerous hence caution must be employed in the eradication process. Only experts should handle the process. In addition, wildlife rights must also be adhered to. This means that whichever method employed to eradicate these destructive wild pigs must be gentle.
Wild hogs can be eradicated using two ways. The first one is capturing and relocation where they are moved to other areas. Killing to reduce their numbers is the second method. Both methods need experts to execute them appropriately. The hunting of the wild hogs can be made easy if domestic dogs are used. Dogs have been used for a very long time due to their ability to sniff the scent of the hogs.
The other method is using traps as opposed to using dogs and hunting them down manually. Traps of many types in the world. Some traps have been enhanced using technology. One example of trapping systems is the Lone Star Trapping technique used in Texas. The trap has been of benefit in Texas due to its high rate of catching the invasive wild hogs.
There are sophisticated traps that use thermal sensors that have been in use in the world for some time. It is easy to locate the wild hogs in the thermal by using thermal sensors. The efficiency of the traps is therefore very high. Actually, the wild hogs are edible hence some members of the immediate communities have been killing them for food. In conclusion, regardless of the method used, there is absolute reason for the many wild hogs in places such as Texas to be eradicated so that they do not cause any harm to the ecosystem and the environment in general.
